General Accountant (F&B Industry)
Location: Doha
Reports To: Finance Manager / Chief Accountant
Job Summary:
The General Accountant is responsible for managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role plays a critical part in the financial health of the company by overseeing accounting operations, preparing financial reports, and supporting budgeting and auditing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers, journals, and invoices.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Reconcile bank statements and financial discrepancies.
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for the business.
Ensure compliance with tax laws, VAT regulations, and other financial reporting standards.
Conduct periodic financial analysis to support business decisions.
Assist with internal and external audits by preparing required documentation.
Monitor cost control measures and suggest improvements.
Process payroll and ensure accuracy in employee compensation and benefits.
Handle inventory accounting and track costs related to food and beverage supplies.
Implement and maintain internal financial controls.
Stay updated with industry financial trends and regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is a plus.
Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the F&B industry.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and taxation.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and MS Office Suite.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in inventory management and cost control in F&B.
Familiarity with POS systems and restaurant financial operations.
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment:
Office-based with occasional site visits to restaurants/kitchens.
May require working extra hours during financial closing periods.
